Who doesn’t remember Michael (Jean-Paul Belmondo) in Jean-Luc Godard’s film À bout de souffle talking on the phone, smoking a cigarette and wearing his boxer shorts? Definitely, this is one of those mythical scenes of the Nouvelle Vague. Cinema is probably the biggest source of inspiration for Boxer Union. Roles played by great actors such as: Paul Newman, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Cary Grant, Robert de Niro, Leonardo DiCaprio… In fact, Roberto Benigni’s interpretation in Woody Allen comedy To Rome with Love was a definitive turning point in Boxer Union origin. In this film a journalist cries out: “Yeah, I knew you were a boxer shorts man!”.
